As technological value systems become more pervasive in modern society, is it possible that they will eventually overrule traditional value systems revolving around human virtues and morality? If so, will yesterday’s science fiction become tomorrow’s nonfiction? This introduction to French sociologist and Christian thinker Jacques Ellul (1912-1994) will highlight his interpretation of the Tower of Babel narrative as a model for critiquing all human ventures that give no regard for the subtle and subversive role of divine revelation.
