Human trafficking is found in every county in Minnesota. Most victims are seen by healthcare professionals during their captivity, but their chance for freedom is usually lost because their plight is unrecognized. The healthcare needs of this group are complex and appropriate treatment is critical for their healing. This lecture will discuss the basic facts of human trafficking, how to recognize victims, and the healthcare problems that should be considered during their care.
Gloria Halverson is the team leader of the Christian Medical & Dental Association’s Global Health Outreach. She was trained as an Ob/Gyn and was previously a professor of medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
This lecture is cosponsored with CMDA. Free lunch will be provided.
